Learn how to make two kinds of natural indigo vats: one with henna and the other Michel Garcia’s 1-2-3 natural indigo vat. In this workshop you will learn how to make a clay resist to hand-paint and block-print your designs. Students will have an opportunity to explore indigo dyeing and learn a handful of traditional + contemporary shibori techniques using different fibers. Students are encouraged to bring 6-8 pieces of fabric from home to dye during this workshop. Materials fee $30, payable to the instructor. Supply list available soon.
